When we think of “female” hormones, what generally comes to mind is Estrogen and Progesterone. Did you know that women also have testosterone, and DHEA, but in lower amounts then men (expect in PCOS)? It is really important to have these hormones in optimal amounts for female health. When sex hormones are out of balance, typically there are also issues with the adrenal glands, thyroid, liver detoxification, gut, diet or lifestyle factors.
Because hormones are interconnected with so many other glands and organ systems, I rarely address female sex hormones alone. If you truly want to restore balance, you need to consider all aspects of your health and a comprehensive individualized treatment plan.
Common symptoms of hormone imbalance include:
- Weight gain or difficulty losing weight
- Fatigue
- Irregular menstrual cycles
- Anxiety, depression, irritability
- Fibrocystic breasts
- Endometriosis, PCOS, infertility
- PMS
- Cold intolerance
- Hair loss
- Painful or heavy menses
- Insomnia
- Joint pain/Muscle aches
- Easily overwhelmed or impacted by stress
- Blood sugar imbalances
- Low libido
Some symptoms of hormone imbalances are obvious, but other signs are not so obvious. As you can imagine, balancing your sex hormones requires a multi-system approach that considers you as a whole person. It also requires you to trust your gut! So often we ignore what our bodies are telling us. I would love to hear your story and help you achieve your best hormonal health ever.

Can you identify with some (or maybe a lot) of the symptoms of hormone imbalance? If your body is fed up, and you are too then it is time to seek out a solution to the root cause of your imbalance. The key to healthy hormones is to support the entire body. Special focus should be given to the ovaries, thyroid, adrenals, gut and liver. The most important starting point, in my opinion, is the adrenals.
